I’ve given up on the Renogy solar controllers as both the ones I tried have problems. It’s also proven to be a pretty crappy product ecosystem in general and unreliable monitoring. I’ll stick with the DC-DC charger and inverter for now as they both seem to be working fine.
I went ahead the replaced the solar charge controller with a Victron MPPT 20 amp controller and so far it’s awesome. Although I have all the panels on this one currently, I’m going to split the single 50 watt panel onto a second controller as it will actually be more efficient. The real test will be my trip to Oregon over Christmas, although probably more of a test for the DC-DC charger as sun tends to be scarce there.
On the electrical side, I now really just need to replace the SLA battery with another LiFePo4. I do think I may make use of full service camp sites occasionally so I might work an automatic transfer switch and an external power plug into the mix.
Only other projects are the trailer hitch addition (and cargo carrier), a little more insulation, cat area, and sink/shower plumbing. I’ve decided against doing an awning for now.
