Van Update 12/16/23

Basically done with everything I can think of. Just need to swap out the SLA battery for the second LiFePo4 battery if it gets here tomorrow, then I will be off to Oregon for a couple weeks.

Think I’m finally happy with the electrical system, aka my favorite part…. All the chargers are now Victron. I also now have two 100ah LiFePo4 batteries in parallel for 200ah total, have the big fuses all in one place, and made it easy to just disconnect all the off grid charging stuff when I have shore power available. The amount of stuff packed in there actually equates to a fairly efficient system (1/4 of it is my toolbox though). I have two solar charge controllers as I have two different size panels (two 100 watt panels and one 50 watt…

I’ve given up on the Renogy solar controllers as both the ones I tried have problems. It’s also proven to be a pretty crappy product ecosystem in general and unreliable monitoring. I’ll stick with the DC-DC charger and inverter for now as they both seem to be working fine. I went ahead the replaced the solar charge controller with a Victron MPPT 20 amp controller and so far it’s awesome. Although I have all the panels on this one currently, I’m going to split the single 50 watt panel onto a second controller as it will actually be more efficient.…

Yay! Have to take it easy for a while though. Need to enlist help getting the batteries swapped in my van I guess.

I was able to get some electrical stuff done despite my cast.
Kinda in a holding pattern as I wait to get my cast off on 11 After that I will work on my van-to-do list then plan to take a trip to Oregon over Christmas.
